Of Other Spaces

Of Other Spaces began as a residency on Orford Ness, a former weapons testing site (now a National Trust nature reserve) off the Suffolk Coast. Brought together by a common interest in the landscape as a place from which to consider and negotiate other, more conceptual concerns, the residency was not about the relationship between individual and place, but about an opportunity for dialogue between the artists that fed into, and contributed to the work. Following the residency, the artists have continued the dialogue, and this exhibition, consisting of some works arising directly from Orford Ness but also of others with different geographical locations, gives an opportunity to consider what might be meant by an artist's response to place.
