Props and Actions 1

Props and Actions take a look at the contemporary social environment of the fitness-centre gym to consider the body's relationship to training and the equipment and machinery involved in the physical process and performance of perfecting the human body toward the production and making of the body ideal.

Large scale digital photographs focus on the individual fitness machinery and equipment used to train the body in which the (body of the) machine stands alone, a powerful, desirable sculptural object and prop in waiting that also becomes a replacement for the human body in its absence.

First shown at the Surface Gallery Photography Open, Nottingham in 2005. Prizewinner for category.
